2. The department shall assist in the management of species of wildlife that are
considered to be endangered elsewhere by prohibiting the taking, possession,
transportation, exportation, processing, sale or offering for sale or shipment
in this state of species of wildlife listed on the United States lists of
endangered fish and wildlife, unless those actions will assist in preserving or
propagating the species.

C. Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, it is unlawful for any person
to take, possess, transport, ship, export, process, sell or offer for sale any
species of wildlife appearing on the list of wildlife native to this state and
determined pursuant to this article to be endangered in this state.
